WALGREENS IS AWESOME---- Free Honey-Nut Cheerios!!!! (Kinda)
Walgreens has a pretty good sale on this week so you need to dig out your coupons and add to the savings!!! The best one seems to be the Honey Nut Cheerios that are 2/4$. Go HERE and print out 2 $1.00 off coupons which will make it $1.00 a box. Now, pick up a gallon of milk (which is 2.49) and you will qualify for a 2.00 Register Reward. That makes your Honey Nut Cheerios virtually free!!!! Remember Register Rewards are just like money that can be used on your next trip to Walgreens!!!! SCORE!!!!!!
STEP 3 CONTINUED------ Where to find all of the coupons????????
Okay, once you have decided on your organizational method for storing coupons, we need to talk about WHERE DO WE GET THE COUPONS!?!?!?!?! There are several places that you can find coupons. (I have even gotten some out of a garbage can once, but my kids were MORTIFIED) The main place is the INTERNET! Probably 60% of my coupons are printable coupons that I have gotten off the internet.
WORD of CAUTION: Don't go crazy (As I have been doing) and print out EVERY COUPON IN EXISTENCE because all of the paper and ink will eat into the savings that you are trying to achieve!!!!!!!!!!
Here are a few places online where I have gotten coupons from:
Other places to find coupons:

Here are a few places online where I have gotten coupons from:
Mommy saves big!!!! She has tons of specific store coupons!!!!
Hot Coupon World Coupon Database!!!!! This is AWESOME!!!! Type in what specific coupon you need, and if one exists, it will tell you where it is and where to get it!!!! I mean, C'mon!!!!! It doesn't get any easier than this!!!!!!!!!
These coupons reset about once a month and you can print multiple copies. Once your print limit has been met on a particular coupon, it will display (print limit reached.) Don't over do it, but you can get good coupons here. Don't try to copy them though because the copy doesn't print out the watermark and retailers catch it!!!!!
(DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!!!!!!!)
Other places to find coupons:
- Alot of specific companies and restaurants (like TGI Friday's, Proctor and Gamble, Pillsbury, and Betty Crocker to name a few) will send coupons directly to your email or home mailbox if you sign up for their newsletters.
- OBVIOUSLY, the Sunday paper. I always get 2 or have someone save the coupons for you!!!!!! Multiple coupons come in handy!!!!! NEVER settle for just one copy of a coupon when you could have 4 or 5.
- Blinkies- The little read machines above certain items in the store will give you good coupons!!!
- Catalina registers- These printers are at the register and print out good coupons. (and register rewards at Walgreens!!!)
- Peelies and Packages- On products sometimes they have coupons that you peel off or sometimes they are on the inside of the box, so ALWAYS look before you throw them away!!!
- Start a coupon share box at your work (I haven't done this yet, but I am going to just as soon as we get back from Christmas break!!!!)

Step 3: How to coupon like a pro....Choosing your organization method!!!
My Couponing Equipment
Okay, let me say this first. If you are going to go all out, and become a COUPON DIVA, you need to do a binder of some sort. If you still want to stay compact I recommend getting a small coupon holder. Whatever you use, the main thing is thing is to find a system that is going to help you get the most out of your coupons. Some people use a ziplock back, others envelopes. I started with the small coupon holder because I was too embarrased to lug around a binder, but I quickly got over that!!!!!! If you know me I am rarely embarrased, so I don't know what I was thinking!!!! Most of this post will be devoted to the binder method, but you still may pick up some pearls of wisdom, SO READ IT ANYWAY!!!!!
- Choose a binder that will suit your couponing needs. Mine is a 1 1/2 inch binder with baseball card sleeves.
- Most go with a bigger binder and I may have to move up later, we will just have to wait and see. One person I have spoke with, uses an accordian type binder with various type sleeves (4x6, baseball, and whole pages) here is a photo of that type of set up:
- Another type is a box type container.
If you want small, then go with the one like I use for my coupons that are about to expire.
Sort the coupons into categories. I sort according to what makes sense to me and you should do the same. Here are my categories.
Deli/Produce- I rarely have coupons here.
Bread
Coffee/other Beverages
Meats
Condiments
Can/Packaged Foods
Breakfast
Baking
Grains/Pasta/Sauces
Cookies/Crackers
Snack Foods
Frozen
Refridgerated
Meds
Air Freshener
Cleaning Products
Pets/Batteries (I don't know why but I just put them together, I am soo blonde:)
Feminine Products
Hair Products
Make-up
Oral Products
Paper Products
Plastic and Storage Products
Shaving
Skin/Facial Products
Soap/Deodorant
Misc
Resturants
Walgreens
Other stores
Gosh, I didn't realize I had so many sections!!!!! I probably will have to upgrade to a bigger binder afterall!!!
Once you have your organization method down, we need to discuss where to get coupons.....We will discuss this tomorrow because I need to finish watching the SOUND OF MUSIC..... Shut it!!! I know someone is calling me a geek out there but I don't really care!!!!!!!! So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu!!!!!

Free BOOKS!!!!! BOOK WORMS I HAVE A SCORE FOR YOU!!!
Read it forward has link for free copies of soon-to-be released books HERE!!!! Be sure and email me if you get the SCORE!!!!!
Step 2: Learnin to LOVE Some Walgreens!!!!!
Okay, first of all, I woke up feeling very yukky today....So after getting my kids up and off to their father's for the weekend, I surveyed the Post-Christmas disaster, fixed a cup of coffee, and went back to bed. Later my niece sent me a message on Facebook about how she got all of these Glade candles for like 25 cents!!! That, of course, spurred me to action!!!! I quickly got dressed and ran into to town (Also so I could take back my RedBox movie and get YET ANOTHER FREE MOVIE!!!!!!) I didn't have much get up and go though once I got there so after getting my movie and I came home only after scoring 2 rolls of 50 cent wrapping paper and some mascara (which I was out of) Loreal Volume Shocking Mascara that was Regularly 16.99 for 2.37!!!! SCORE!!!!
Okay, Now for why we are here; Learning about why Walgreens are soooo great!!!! Walgreens has weekly sales and then on top of that, a midweek sale. In both of these circulars there are always great deals and Walgreen coupons. Walgreen coupons are what makes them so great because you can stack your Walgreen coupons with Manufacturers coupons and get AWESOME DEALS!!!!!! Then, if this isn't enough Walgreen also puts out a monthly coupon book FULL OF GREAT DEALS!!!! One final thing is the Register Rewards. Register Rewards (RR) are special things that you can purchase in the store and when you pay, the reciept printer (called a catalina machine) prints out a certificate to use on your next purchase at that store!!!These range in value depending on the deal. You find the latest register rewards in the weekly ads. Okay so let's recap and then I will take you through some examples.
Hopefully you can see know why Walgreen's is my new FRIEND!!!!!! I am straight up serious!!! If you are new to the whole tryin to be frugal thing, You want to get to know Walgreens pretty quick!!!! Call me if you are nervous about this step, I will sooo be your sponsor (thinkin addiction lingo) and go with you to Walgreens. I typically do my shopping there on Mondays or Wednesdays. (Wednesdays are good because they get their trucks in on Wednesdays plus you can take advantage of both weekly and midweekly ad sales, BUT sometimes they are out of sales stuff. I just ask for a raincheck though!!!!)

- Monthly coupons books- Sometimes their are 2 different ones, A pharmacy one that contains mostly medicinal stuff but still useful; and the Regular one that you get up front. Couple these with stuff on sale PLUS a manufacturer's coupon for a major SCORE!!!!
- Weekly and MidWeekly Ads- Shows sale prices for the week along with additional coupons!!!!
- When something goes on sale, then use your Walgreen coupon, along with a manufacturers coupon for your major SCORE!!!!!
- Sometimes, you will get a register reward for something and create and even bigger discount!!!!!
- EXAMPLES:
- Theraflu was on sale last week for 2/$10. I had 2 $2.00 off manuf. coupons plus the Walgreens 2.00 off coupon (it took $ 4.00 off ) I paid 4.00 for 2 bottles of Theraflu but the best part was I got a 5.00 register reward!!!!! SCORE!!!!! That was like getting paid 1.00 to buy the stuff!!!!!! SEE WHY YOU GOTSTA LOVE SOME WALGREENS!!!!!!
- ST. Ives had a coupon in the ad for body wash for 1.49 which is a good price for body wash, but guess what??????? I had a $1.00 coupon which made it 49 cents!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!!
- Here is the 3rd deal I got last week: Arm & Hammer laundry detergent was buy one get one free (BOGO) for 6.99. I got 4 because I had 2 1.00 off when you buy 2 coupons. (when the store puts stuff on BOGO, you can still use the coupons that say "when you buy 2, cause technically you are buying those at 3.49 a piece.) my total ended up being 2.99 per detergent for a total of 11.96 for 4, 32 load bottles of detergent!!!!!!
- Campbells soup was 1.39 a can but they had an in ad coupon for .59 per can of soup. I added a .40 cents off 4 can coupon that I had which made them .49 cents per can! (not as drastic as the others, but you see what I mean?????)

Step 1 in the highly acclaimed "12 Steps to Saving Money" by Jewl-E
So here we are, staring at the aftermath of what was undoubtedly a wonderful Christmas. I hope that even though you may being dealing with losses personally or financially, you will take the time to evaluate what you DO have. I have done that today and found that I am greatly blessed!!!! Thank you God!!!!
Okay, to begin..... Like all people with addiction problems, we need a 12 step program to get us back on track. That is where I want to start. Call it if you will "The 12 step program to saving money." Catchy huh???? Yeah, well, call it what you want then!!!!!!
Remember that each step is important and you need to take it slow so you will find success. I will explain the steps and then tell you how I did it. Remember you don't have to do it my way but you DO need to find a way to do them that suits your life, style, etc.....

- Pre-plan ALWAYS before you go shopping. I know this takes time and we are ALWAYS short on time but you need MAKE the time if you want to SAVE the money. Cut out some of that FACEBOOK time!!!!!!! Sure my crops are suffering, on FarmTown and my BINGO and FARKLE scores are at an all time low, but I am playing a new game and it is called researching to find the best deals!!!!!What do I mean by pre-planning? I mean you need to make a list of what you need. Always plan with your sales ads in front of you. I do this on Sunday night. I am only using WALGREENS, RITE-AID, PHILLIPS MKT, and FOOD LION right now because of the time issue and I don't want to be overwhelmed. I started with just Walgreens and each week added a new store.
- Make grocery lists according to what is on sale and what coupons you have.
- Researching Blogs also helps with this because they do alot of the work for you....I usually print the Walgreens and Rite Aide deal reviews that you will find on sites such as Hip2Save (WOOT, WOOT) The important thing to know here is that sometimes prices are different or coupon amount in my Sunday paper might be different. (Its happened one or two times for me)
- Use this information from circulars and online blogs to make lists for each store.
- Obviously things like bread, milk, oj, eggs are probably going to be weekly purchases w/o coupons but still watch for good deals. (Walgreens has eggs and english muffins this week for 99 cents. Food Lion eggs are 1.00)
- Pull out coupons for things that are on sale to get even bigger deals (I will talk about specific stores and how to get their good deals later.)
- If you find incredible deals, STOCK UP. Sales run in about a 6 week cycle and bigger sales closer to holidays. Buy enough of a product to last a 6 week period. (ex. With a coupon the other day, I got cereal at Rite-Aid for .49 cent a box so I bought 6 boxes to last approx. 6weeks.)
- One you have spent the time pre-planning collect all the coupons you are planning to use in a pre-planning envelope. you can have an envelope for each store and just write the list on it or throw them all in one baggie or envelope and clip the list to the baggie. (you still want to bring your binder of coupons in case you run upon an awesome deal that wasn't in the sales ad- Clearance items, daily specials, etc....)

So really, what is the deal???
Okay...I can soooo hear my friend Trace, yelling that I have offically reached a new level of "Nerdom", but really....Why fight it?
Okay, so here I am in the middle of the night, planning this new blog thing based on my latest obsession saving some MONEY!!!!! I thought first I would start with an autobiography of some kind ( yeah as if all 2 of you that are reading this don't know me already!!!) Whatever, it's my blog, so here it goes!!!!!
My name is Julie, I am twice divorced, and I live in a van.........NO WAIT.....that's not me....
Okay, so I am Julie, I am twice divorced but I don't live in a van down by the river (although I do own a van...) I have 2 wonderful children who, in my mind are absolutely what children should be like......They are not perfect nor should they be, but they are great and are one of the reasons I am on this Earth!!!
I have worked for 8 years in the greatest show...I uh...mean "job" on Earth.......I feel silly calling it such because it rarely seems like a job....I am a (wait for it....) T-E-A-C-H-E-R (If you can read that, then a teacher has done her job) Most days are so much fun and I learn from them as much as they (hopefully) learn from me.... I work with 11 and 12 year olds so I get the opportunities of sarcasm and eye rollings on a daily basis.........My work with these children are another of the reasons I am on this Earth....I cannot imagine doing anything else with my time.....
As far as my personal life, I guess you might say I don't have one. I don't date regularly or pursue relationships, not because I don't want one, but because I haven't found THE ONE, God wants me to be with. Hopefully I will know him when I see him. I tell my friends he will be wearing a big red bow on his head because he is a gift from God!
Why I started this blog: Well first of all it comes from the fact that I love to spend money and shop. That is the problem. I tend to go in cycles. First, I will get my finances all organized and worked out and then I slack, start throwing money at my problems and WHAM! before you know it, I am in the hole again looking up. After one really bad hole digging session a few months ago, I decided for real, this is it! I have a stable job and income, not an outrageous amount of bills, so I should be able to do this. I started researching and began to see where I was spending money, making a budget, etc.....Then I happened to visit my UBER-FRUGAL niece Corrie, and she introduced me to couponing for the 21st century.
NOOOOOOO!!!! This ain't your mama's coupon collecting; this is hard-core, straight up, gettin some AWESOME deals!!! It involves websearching for the best deals, coupon printing, cross-referencing with other stores to get the best deals. Well I am hooked!!! I am not near as frugal as the Jedi Masters out there that I follow on web yet, but I have a lot to share with you, my friends on what I have learned on this path to becoming a Coupon Jedi.
So, keep up with me as I post about my adventures in shopping frugally! My goal is to post about once a week letting you know what I have found out there and how I am getting it done!!! Hopefully by keeping this blog, it will keep me more accountable for what I am spending and maybe help those of you out there that need help in the evil dark side of finances....
Okay, its like 2:24 in the am so I am going to bed now!!!! MORE TO COME!!!!!!!
